چکیده

Many-body quantum-mechanical scattering problem is solved asymptotically when the size of the scatterers (inhomogeneities) tends to zero and their number tends to infinity. A method is given for calculation of the number of small inhomogeneities per unit volume and their intensities such that embedding of these inhomogeneities in a bounded region results in creating a new system, described by a desired potential. The governing equation for this system is a non-relativistic Schrödinger’s equation described by a desired potential. Similar ideas were developed by the author for acoustic and electromagnetic (EM) wave scattering problems. PACS 43.20.+g, 62.40.+d, 78.20.-e. MSC 35J10; 45F05; 74J25, 81U10; 81U40; 82C22

N ov 1 99 9 FINDING SMALL INHOMOGENEITIES FROM SCATTERING DATA

A new method for finding small inhomogeneities from surface scattering data is proposed and mathematically justified. The method allows one to find small holes and cracks in metallic and other obejcts from the observation of the acoustic field scattered by the objects.

Evaluation of Full scatter convolution algorithm based Treatment Planning System performance in the presence of inhomogeneities using three-dimensional film dosimetry

Introduction: Inclusion of inhomogeneities such as air-filled cavities in the head and neck treatment fields may result in potential dosimetric disagreement which was caused by electronic disequilibrium. Most of treatments planning systems (TPS) are not able to predict dose distribution of inhomogeneous regions accurately. EBT2 films are used frequently in radiotherapy quality ass...

Recovery of Small Inhomogeneities from the Scattering Amplitude at a Fixed Frequency

We derive rigorously the leading order term in the asymptotic expansion of the scattering amplitude of a collection of a finite number of dielectric inhomogeneities of small diameter. We then apply this formula for the purpose of identifying the location and certain properties of the shapes of the inhomogeneities using measurements of the scattering amplitude at a fixed frequency. Joint work wi...

Small-angle neutron scattering on polymer gels: phase behavior, inhomogeneities and deformation mechanisms

Recent developments in small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) investigations on polymer gels are reviewed by encompassing (i) volume phase transition and microphase separation, (ii) inhomogeneities in polymer gels, (iii) pressure dependence of hydrophobic interaction and (iv) structural characterization of super-tough gels. These developments owe much to the understanding of gel inhomogeneities ...
